Bio
Veristyle has proven at the age of 25 as an independent artist that anything can happen as long as you put your money where your talent is. Even with the lack of Chicano artists in the music industry, Versityle has kept his ear firmly to the ground for an interesting twist of rap in an opportunity to knock down the stereo-types and kick down barriers.
Versityle started making his own expression of hip-hop in the early part of 1995. His inspiration came off of Snoop Dogg’s classic debut, Doggystyle. His inspiration further became reality when his ears were laid upon the late Tupac Shakur’s “Me Again the World.” Those two artists, along with many other west coast legends, showed Versityle the impact of change that befalls a person with an open mind. Hip-hop has always been an outlet too transform personal tribulations into an art form.
Versityle was born in Orange County and arrived in the Inland Empire in 1987. Ten years later after confronting the death of his grandmother, Versityle transformed his poetry into spoken words. His emotion had built up by 1999 when Versityle dropped a four-track demo at a public recording studio in Brea, California. In 2000, he started selling and giving away his demo to hip-hop fans across the area totaling in over 5,000 cd’s. While recording in Brea, he was able to catch the attention of a short-lived record label in the Inland Empire where he was able to further develop his sound.
In 2001 Versityle flew to New York to work with Dark Lab Records. He was able to record more songs and come back with enough material to release his album debut “8 and ½ Trax: An EP Album”. He quickly pushed out over 100 cd’s alone out the trunk.
With the financial success of his EP album Versityle put together a street-distribution team with producers, journalist writers, web designers, photographers, and a professional recording studio to compliment the birth of Psychonite Entertainment in 2003.
After establishing himself through self-promotions, he started sending demos to record labels of all forms. Whether it was independent or major, every place seemed like a destination of dreams. In 2005 Versityle was asked to work the Ozzfest Tour with Chronic Candy and spent three months on the road saving up money to pay for his 1st LP album “Patiently Waiting”, an appropriate title given the hard work it has taken to build from the ground up.
After being arrested North Carolina and put in jail during a September Ozzfest show involving marijuana flavored candy. Versityle came home to California and fought the charges that North Carolina brought against him and they were dropped. Shortly after winning his case he rebuilt his recording studio to record and later release his independent 1st LP album “Patiently Waiting”. The album sold over 200 copies in two months out of the trunk of his car. Also in 2005 Versityle and his assistant launched the web-site psychonite.com. This serves as an artery for Versityle’s career.
Veristlye seems to be the first artist in the Inland Empire to not only produce half the beats on his LP album, but also recorded, engineered, and mastered the project inside his own private, personal Psychonite Ent. studio. In a world where everybody today says they can rap Versityle is the only one around that has time after time proven with ambition his credibility inside and outside the studio.
